Wedgewood Golf and Country Club,  Powell Ohio is such an amazing and beautiful outdoor wedding venue.  We were able to photograph Caylie and Ryan’s wedding there last spring and it was so romantic and beautiful.  Here is my take on the wedding venue and why it is such a gorgeous location to have your wedding and reception.

The bridal suite and where the room for the guys are definitely the biggest rooms we have ever been in to photograph the getting ready portion of the day – which that right there is huge!  I couldn’t believe how large the rooms were.  They were using almost banquet size rooms that have a nice light color on the walls, lots of windows, tables with nice neutral linen tablecloths to set everything down on.  They had the 3 most important things from a photographers standpoint to get ready – Nice natural light, light colored walls and tons of space.  I know it is much easier for a makeup artist to put makeup on in natural light as well so that is a huge help to them!  Having lots of space to spread out and move around means that everyone is not cramped and we can easily find a nice cleaned up spot to put the dress on.

The Celebration Garden is a secluded romantic area surrounded by the hillside, tall sculpted trees, and a beautiful pond.  It is an ideal location for a wedding ceremony because it is so secluded. You wouldn’t even know you were by the golf course or anything.  I loved it when Caylie and her dad were walking down the hillside beyond the tree line.  It was a private walk for them, but guests could see them coming down the hillside.  It was a perfect moment.  The sculpted trees remind me of the French countryside and province.  The ceremony site itself has a beautiful brick patio for the wedding ceremony.  Caylie and Ryan had lanterns leading up the aisle with an arbor.  I have seen several photos with and without arbors, so there are lots of options if you want something at the altar area.  The Celebration Garden is beautiful just by itself as well!

I love it when we are able to jump in golf carts during the wedding day with the bride and groom and are able to get out on the course a little bit.  We have the ability to really use the course and the landscape to shape the wedding pictures.  The Wedgewood Golf and Country Club staff quickly helped us navigate to a secluded little area with a gorgeous bridge over some water and a nice green space.  It was a perfect spot to take photos at of just the bride and groom.  I couldn’t have imagined a better location for their wedding photos.  I do highly suggest doing a first look or scheduling out extra time to go on the golf cart for pictures since it usually does take us 5+ minutes from the reception area.  Having that extra time to photograph the landscape of the golf course in the photos makes for a beautiful bride and groom portraits.

Gorgeous large windows pouring light into the room, neutral walls and beautiful ceilings.  The Wedgwood reception room is one of my favorites to photograph in because of all the natural light.  Another bonus is that they have everything set up ahead of time! We are able to sneak into the reception room right before the ceremony and get all the photos of the reception room done before the wedding day really starts! This is great since a lot of our couples love that clean untouched reception room picture since they normally do not get to see it on the wedding day until they are announced in.  A lot of work goes into planning centerpieces, table linens, backlighting, etc.  We are always so excited when we can get a few clean photos of the entire reception room without guests. Once all the guests come into the room there is still more than enough space to entertain and dance the night away.  It is such a spacious room and you never once felt crowded.

Overall it is one of my favorite wedding venues in Powell, Ohio to photograph.  Between the amazing and helpful staff, beautiful natural light getting ready rooms and reception areas, the secluded celebration garden site for the ceremony, beautifully landscaped exterior and decks for miles.  It is truly a gem of a reception venue in Powell, Ohio.  I can not wait until we are able to photograph a wedding at Wedgewood Golf and Country Club again!
