Michael + Kashi

 

|| Columbus, Ohio Downtown North Bank Park ||

 

The day of Michael and Kashi’s downtown Columbus Ohio engagement photography session was crazy downtown! We planned on doing their engagement photography session right around the Arena District, starting at McPherson Park or Arch Park as some call it!

 

I was there with Emily and Chris the previous fall, so being able to come back again this late in the summer was awesome. The leaves were still very green and the area had a totally different feel to it. It was packed around McPherson Park. I don’t mean that figuratively either, there were people everywhere!! At the time we planned the session we didn’t know the Blue Jackets were having a game, a concert was going on over at Huntington Park and I can’t even remember the other event that was happening in the area. There were just people all over the place!

 

We started out on the far side of the park away from all the hustle and bustle of concerts and events. Poor Michael, the weather we had been having for the week or two prior had been nice and cool – then bang! Hot 80+ degree days! Ahh, He was a champ, though, and wore a sweater for part of the engagement session. He was a trooper!   Kashi was on point with her outfits – Seriously, check out the pictures – she is cute as a button! I always tell my couples to bring two sets of outfits, one casual and one more dressy.

 

The interpretation of dressy and casual is always up to my couples and I love to see how their personalities influence the outfits. Michael and Kashi’s outfits were gorgeous and they coordinated so perfectly – I was in heaven! They both knew they looked and felt good in their outfits which makes a huge difference in the pictures! When you are comfortable in your clothes, worry gets left behind and we can focus on doing fun things like chatting, laughing and walking around Columbus! After they changed into their second outfit we headed over to North Bank Park.

 

North Bank Park is one of my favorite park areas downtown. I love the Glass Pavilion where weddings and events are held. I have photographed a couple of weddings in the pavilion and the lighting and backdrop of downtown Columbus is always gorgeous.

 

The three of us went down to the riverside and took some pictures with the bridge and the downtown skyline in the background right before the sunset. The lighting at sunset is magical and so it was for Michael and Kashi that evening. The sun was giving off such a warm, soft glow and it just filled up the frame and surrounded them with gorgeous light. It made for a perfect ending to their engagement session! I can not wait for their wedding in April!
