Alisha and Andrew found their way to me by one of our previous couples, Courtney and Daniel, that were married at Irongate Equestrian Center. We always love it when couples refer us to other people and when newly engaged couples find us because they loved their friend’s engagement and wedding pictures. When Alisha told me they loved Courtney’s pictures I was so excited to meet them and then get to photograph their wedding!
We started the day off at the Hampton Inn in the Short North. I have mentioned before that when talking about where to get ready, a hotel room is always an awesome place. You can guarantee there will be clean lines, neutral walls and tidy rooms – or at least it was tidy until eight girls started getting ready in it! We have actually photographed getting ready images at the Hampton Inn before, so it was fun to get back into the hotel for more pictures. Plus, we are huge Hampton Inn fans. We stay at Hampton Inns a lot when we travel for engagement sessions and weddings that are not held in Columbus.
Once everyone got ready we headed to Holy Rosary St. Johns. This church was gorgeous. It was so pretty on the inside, and a perfect church for Alisha and Andrew to share their vows. In the church, there was a gorgeous balcony that Scott ran up to during the actual wedding to take a picture of the ceremony. It is always fun when there are balconies to get images from on the wedding day – it is a totally different perspective than what I have from the ground level.
We headed over to the Ohio Statehouse for some quick pictures with the entire bridal party and then pictures of just Alisha and Andrew. This was a fun stop for us, and the stairs worked out great for their bridal party! They had one of the largest bridal parties of the year for us with 23 people and when you have that many people, a lot of stairs are helpful! We had a blast with all of them and were able to get all the pictures we needed since their wedding party was really helpful in getting the pictures done.
The reception was at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral in the Short North. The had a bagpiper named Jeff Linn, and he was awesome! I have had him at other weddings in Columbus and he is an amazing bagpiper. Alisha and Andrew made sure they had him, specifically, play at their reception because Andrew’s parents also had him play at their wedding reception. Andrew’s parents had a wedding picture of them and Jeff Linn together, and Andrew and Alisha wanted to recreate the same photo with Jeff. This was so awesome, and something we have never had done at a wedding before. The fact that the same bagpiper played at Andrew’s parent’s wedding and now their son’s wedding was amazing!
The remaining part of the evening was a blast. They had so many family and friends loving them and enjoying the time with them dancing and partying away. They had an adorable cupcake table with some delicious cupcake flavors. I always enjoy the fact that the Greek Orthodox Cathedral room has a stage area that lets the DJ set up on the stage and then everyone has the main dance floor all to themselves, it really makes it nice to party! We had a blast photographing Alisha and Andrew’s wedding! Thank you two so much for having us there!
