How was your Valentine’s Day? or should I saw weekend? I know a lot of my couples and friends celebrated Valentine’s day over the whole weekend. I love it when it falls on a weekend date like it did this year. I heard Easton was crazy busy on Saturday! We stayed in here and enjoyed a nice quiet Valentine’s day. I was planning on cooking a chicken and asparagus dinner, but, Scott texted a couple hours before he left work to see if he should pick something up instead. He brought home O’Charly’s which was perfect. I have to say that it was probably better then what I had planned, and I didn’t have to spend time cooking! I was kind of all about that because I was running a bit behind on things on Friday.
I did manage to get some balloons to decorate the house with ( yay! ). Party City was selling a dozen balloons together, which was exactly what I was looking for. I was planning on going plain jane and just doing red normal shaped balloons, but they had hearts – so he got heart balloons!
I baked a cake in the morning and iced it in the afternoon. Don’t worry, I do not plan on being a professional baker or cake decorator any time soon, but it is always fun to do!
Scott got me flowers the day before which was perfect. They were my favorite color and type for flowers. He had gotten me an orchid plant last year that I killed already, so I made sure that orchids weren’t in the mix since I tend to kill the poor things. The flowers were gorgeous and from one of my favorites florist – Griffins. I got to know Griffins when I was next to them during several bridal shows. They are always a blast to talk with and their flowers are always so gorgeous.
I ended up running to Kroger’s to get a couple flowers for the table – Yes, I know I just proclaimed my love for Griffins above, but hey, Kroger’s was easier to get to and I didn’t have time to get to Pataskala on Friday. Plus – Kroger’s had the perfect wildflower looking combo that I was looking for – so it all worked out!
Here are some photos I took of all the festivities on Friday! I hope you had an awesome Valentine’ s Day with your sweetie!
The balloon madness. Bentley was terrified of them when they were all clustered together like this on the ceiling.
The gorgeous flowers with a cute teddy bear!
We need to take another moment to look at these flowers…
The joys of cake baker-ing and icing
My handy work. I did the spakle look! That is what Scott calls it. I call it the rustic look.
And the benefits of baking! extra icing and cake to munch on!
This is my beautiful cell phone picture of what the table looked like with my K-rogers flowers, cake, card and candles that I was trying desperately to not light the house on fire. Mental note – balloons with extra long ribbon on them that are floating on the ceiling do not mix well with tea lights. I was paranoid for 15 minutes before he got home and all through dinner that we were going to light the dining room on fire!
