October project day 9 | Columbus Ohio wedding photographer

Our Life

October 9, 2013

On to day 9 of the project!  Happy Wednesday!

I am gearing up here for the fall and winter.  I always look forward to the winter time because things change pace a little bit over here.  Once December and January roll around I am not shooting as many weddings and the pace changes from weddings to more meetings and engagement sessions mixed in there.  It is always a fun change of pace because it gives me a chance to recharge my batteries, look over the year and see what needs to be changed and fixed up a bit.   This is also a time that I get to have a little bit more relaxation time and get some house projects done.  Essentially anything that needs fixed or updated with the house or major cleaning projects get put off until December. I am already planning on cleaning and reorganizing all of the closets come December. They desperately need it.  I was doing a bit of picking up around the house yesterday evening and saw that I have a crazy amount of magazines that I have yet to read.  I usually get my design inspiration from magazines for colors and updates to the house so I enjoy looking through them when I get the chance.

I had traveled so much in 2012 that I had a ton of airline miles – a couple months ago I got one of those information flyers in the mail saying that I was going to lose all my points if I didn’t do something with them so I could order magazines. SWEET. Free magazines! I am all about that.  That is pretty much how I get all of my magazines – I can’t remember the last time I actually paid for a subscription. I went through and picked a couple, asked my family to pick any that they liked because I still had extra points. I ended up with 5 magazines total and still had some points left over.  I am sure my mail lady thinks that all I do is sit around and read magazines because I seem to get at least 1 every week! The stack that I have to read through is getting pretty intense! I am positive that this isn’t even all the ones that have come in because I know I have them spread out throughout the house.   There is one magazine that I will read through the week that it comes in the mail and that is Coastal Living. I LOVE that magazine and everything about it.  I actually picked out my colors for the living room that I have yet to paint based on one of their articles. The colors were so gorgeous and the exact colors that I kept failing at finding whenever I was at lowes and home depot in the paint chip aisle.  My living room is a powder/dusty light pink… not to attractive, but that is how it was when I moved in and I have not had the time to paint it.  I only have the dining room and the living room to paint and then the whole downstairs will be painted with new colors! Yay for winter projects!

Here is the awesome stack that I currently need to go through… I used to have a binder that I had the special pages I wanted to keep from the magazines, but I think one of the disorganized closets ate the binder.
