Mixing my two loves – Photography and Ceramics

Our Life

May 1, 2013

I am so excited to be sharing this!  It has been a long time coming –  like YEARS in the making and now I am so happy to be mixing my two loves of photography and ceramics!   I have been doing pottery on and off since high school.  I wanted SO bad to take the ceramic classes in high school. You had to take drawing 1 first as a pre requisite before you could even attempt to take ceramics.  I hated drawing, but managed to get through it.  I took Ceramics 1 and 2.  I had to take Ceramics 1 to obviously get to ceramics 2 which is where I really wanted to be – on the pottery wheel.   Ever since that time I have loved making pottery.  I have taken classes on and off since then during college and then out of college.  I have had a wheel since high school so I could make things… I just could never fire anything hence the on/off with the pottery.  Having a bunch of bone dry pieces of pottery around is never good  – they aren’t sturdy and are pretty much as breakable as glass. Stick them in a bucket of water and they dissolve right back into a pile of clay.  Some happy things have happened in the past couple of months that have made it possible that I can now fire my work! Yay!   If you have been following my personal facebook page then you probably saw a picture of the new additional to the studio when I got it! I was to excited to contain it to myself and posted it up there.  Now onto the mixing of my two loves…

I have been working on some sort of gift to give to my couples.  All of my couples invest so much of themselves in me and my work that I want to give something back to them. I have spent a good couple months trying to figure out the perfect thing that I think they would like, something that reflects me and my personality, and something they can use.  Although I am not going to share everything about the gift like what is in it, when couples receive it or any good information like that hehe. I got to keep some things a surprise!! What I can share is a picture of some of work in progress so you guys can scratch your head and say what the heck is she doing!

I am an Ohio based photographer who loves photographing weddings and engagements, traveling to beautiful sandy beaches, running after our adorable son Wyatt and border collie Bentley. A chips and salsa freak. Lover of  coconut smelling lotions - candles - tea  - desserts and... well anything that smells coconuty, and finally warm summer nights on our patio!  Come hang out with me on Instagram and Facebook!

With Love,

Krista
