June Garden Wedding at Wedgewood Golf and Country Club in Powell Ohio

 

You might remember Caylie and Ryan from their engagement session at Dawes Arboretum around Thanksgiving last year. It was freezing for their engagement session – literally – I am pretty sure Ryan was shaking at one point because it was so cold outside!

 

Luckily, the cold was not the case for their gorgeous June wedding at Wedgewood Country Club! They had a 90+ degree day and bright sun! The perfect blue sky and beautiful white, puffy clouds was an amazing backdrop for their garden wedding.

 

I grew up about 15 minutes from Wedgewood Golf and Country Club, so I always enjoy going back there. It is such a gorgeous place, and the wedding garden is tucked away behind a hill so it makes a lush green background that is so beautifully accented with trees and flowers!

 

Caylie did two first looks the day she Ryan got married! One of them was with her dad, which is so adorable. Her sisters and mom joined us on the balcony to watch the First Look, and there was not a dry eye on that balcony! Everyone was sniffling, and even the bridesmaids watching from inside the getting ready room had teary eyes!

 

When we finished up with Caylie’s dad, we headed out front for the First Look with Ryan. We could not wait for them to see each other! Ryan looked beyond handsome in his silver gray suit and Caylie’s lace wedding dress was amazing with all the details. A little lace top went over the dress that made the whole look just incredible. The lace top was her favorite part of her dress, and I can see why! The sleeves were so regal and delicate. Ryan was in awe as he saw her for their First Look under the canopy of trees.

 

We were able to zip out on a golf cart and onto the course for about 10 minutes to grab some photos of Caylie and Ryan before the next round of golfers came! One thing Wedgewood is known for is their ability to keep pace for the golfers – so fitting in a couple minutes on the course before the next round came was so perfect! I am so happy that Katherine from Wedgewood was able to get us on the course!!

 

There was a beautiful little stream running through the trees, which made a perfect shady location for their pictures. We also planned a little time in for sunset pictures later on in the evening, so we knew this was our chance to get on the course!

 

The outdoor ceremony was so pretty – there was a breeze, which really helped everyone out since it was such a hot June day. I loved the fact that everyone in the procession had to walk down a large hill, and the course had these amazingly tall bushes that reminded me of the kind of bushes I saw in France and Hawai’i. The bushes perfectly framed Caylie and her dad walking down the hill; I think that is one of my favorite pictures from the wedding day. It is unlike any picture we have ever had the opportunity to shoot before, and I love it.

 

Caylie and Ryan had her pastor marry them in the garden, and they lit a unity candle and took communion. I have never had a couple put the unity candle in a little lantern holder before, but that is an amazing idea! So, if you are a bride getting married outside and plan to do a unity candle, consider putting it in a lantern holder! The wind cannot blow the flame out, and you can light the candle with no issues! I love it when our couples come up with new ideas that I can share with everyone else!

 

Caylie and Ryan, thank you so much for letting us be your wedding photographers. I have loved getting to know you over the past several months, and being able to photograph your wedding was so rewarding. Your families are amazing, and your friends are awesome. We seriously love your friends from Colorado, so we might have to take a trip out there now to their lodge! Watching everyone enjoy your love, laugh together, and learn some wicked swing dancing moves was awesome!
